We're Here in Smoky Moscow

The title says it all. The flight was great and we landed approx. 45 mins early. However, the city is completely hidden under a thick cloud of smoke. ... from the forest fires. Many people are wearing masks but the city is now sold out of them. Our first room was on the 19th with the "best views" which is literally just smoke....cannot even make out some of the world's most famous buildings. We switched rooms as the air conditioner was not working...new room is great. We highly doubt we will be able to do any sight seeing on this trip....but we are in good spirits reminding ourselves of the reason we are here. We are hopeful our plane to Siberia will be able to take off tomorrow night. Our driver, Vladimir, assured us the smoke has not made it into Siberia. Moscow is still experiencing a record heat wave as well at approx. 100 degrees currently.
We look forward to meeting the other couple who will be visiting their child/children in the orphanage. They arrive approx. 6:30 tonight. We may just be hanging out in the hotel until we leave for Kemerovo late tomorrow night.
More to follow later.
