After being escorted to the playroom we were handed the form to apply for the baby's new birth certificate. We named our sweet little baby:
Maksim Rigdon Robert Middendorf
It's a handle, we know, but we also know he will carry it well.
We spent approx an hour and a half playing with Maksim and he was very, very cuddly. He would play for a few minutes on the soft mat, turn around and crawl into my or Kip's lap and climb up and put his head on our shoulders. We also started singing our "family lullaby"...the same song we sang to McKenna every night when she was a baby and after the third or fourth time he would hum along or even try to finish the words (Pa Pa and Da Da) when we stopped singing.
When they came to take Maksim for lunch and we had to leave, I tried hard not to cry...but alas I lost it. The feeling was much like I felt when they came to take McKenna for her tonsillectomy last year....."They're taking my baby!". He really is our baby...now we just need the judge to say, "Da!"
It must have been very hard to leave your new boy, Maks.. It seems like he was meant to be a part of your family and ours of course! Have a safe journey home. I am excited to hear lots of details of Maks and all his actions. The next journey home we hope will be with Maks accompanying you.

Okay, another morning of tears for me. I am so sorry that you have to leave our little Maks. I now wait for the time when McKenna meets her little brother. I can hear her singing the lullaby to him already.

Kim and Kip,
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much Maks looks like you! We can't imagine how incredibly difficult it was to leave him - heartbreaking for all of you. We hope your journey back to Siberia to bring Maks home happens quickly. Safe travels back to the US. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
The Seltz Family
I love the name Maks! It goes so well with McKenna also, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI know, it was super hard to leave but he is in good hands. That is what I keep telling myself, our little one likes it there and is attached to the people. So they will both be ok and we will be there soon to bring them home. :) The next 3 months can't go fast enough for us!
Have a safe trip back! :)
